Tempo Trainer ("we", "our", "the app") is a running performance analysis and training plan tool. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What We Collect
- Account info: Email address, name, and timezone when you sign up.
- Running profile: Experience level, weekly mileage target, available training days, race goals, easy pace, and other training preferences you provide.
- Run data: Distance, duration, pace, heart rate, and other metrics — either entered manually or synced from Strava.
- Training plans: Workouts and plans generated within the app.
- Chat messages: Your conversations with Coach Tempo, including any images you share.
- Strava data: If you connect Strava, we import your run activities (distance, time, heart rate, elevation, cadence). We access only what you authorize.
How We Use Your Data
- Personalized guidance: Your profile, runs, and training history are sent to an AI language model (via OpenRouter) to generate training recommendations and performance insights. Messages are not used to train AI models.
- Training plans: We use your data to create and adjust your training plans.
- Progress tracking: We compute analytics (weekly mileage, pace trends, ACWR) from your run data.
What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your data to anyone.
- We do not share your data with advertisers.
- We do not use your data to train AI models.
Third-Party Services
- OpenRouter: Processes your chat messages to generate coaching responses. Subject to OpenRouter's privacy policy.
- Strava: If connected, we access your activity data via Strava's API. Subject to Strava's privacy policy.
- Brave Search: Used by the coach to look up race information. Your search queries are sent to Brave's API.
- Render: Our servers and database are hosted on Render in the United States.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored on Render-hosted servers in the United States. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. API tokens are encrypted at rest. We use HTTPS for all connections.
Your Rights
- Delete your account: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile tab in the app. This is immediate and permanent.
- Export your data: Contact us and we'll provide an export of your data.
- Disconnect Strava: You can disconnect Strava at any time from the Profile tab.
